Beverly’s face softened at his words, giving him a warm smile before replying “Not a problem, what do you have in mind?” She was relieved it wasn’t case related, it was good to see him focused on something not work related. And she wasn’t looking forward to another late night in the lab.
“I really haven’t found anything appropiate.”
Chocolates were the easy solution that he didn’t want to use.
Jewelry, Bella could think that he wanted to fill her with expensive gifts to make her life better, to dump the emptyness in something material that is just that, something material that you can take off and save it in a drawer as if it were nothing.
Flowers, they die, this could be even worse, like to gift the symbol of death to a woman that suffers cancer, a cruel joke to remind her that she was going to die, like the flowers. No, Jack wasn’t going to give Bella flowers.
“So would you mind to give a helping hand? I’ll really apreciate it.”
“I need your help in a special thing.” Jack was being a bit distant. “When do you have free time?” He continued speaking while walking.
Beverly ceased walking, looking up at the man. “I can spare some now, what is it?” she replied, giving a slight smile. She was only in a rush to get home, but there was nothing that couldn’t be delayed. She could handle an angry greeting from her cat for being kept waiting, she dealt with Zee everyday after all.
Jack noticed that the motions of the woman stopped, so he turned around and the first thing that he saw was her smile. The man sighed and talked lowered his tone of voice.
"Is about some personal matter. I need some help to buy a present for my wife.” He felt slight ashamed to need ask for help in such a issue, but he really needed a female opinion. So he had Beverly or Alana. And he choose the first option, he knew Beverly enough to know that she would help him without to judge him.
